What is True? Sam Harris v Jordan B Peterson

I sit in my office, just before 9PM with a cup of tea, hardly any milk, no sugar. This I believe I can be sure of. I would usually class this as a true statement – until now. I’ve just finished listening to Sam Harris’ Waking Up podcast with Jordan B Peterson, which has left me with both a headache & a moment of clarity – very similar to the Cenk Uygur v Sam Harris debate. Although at least this time it had two genuinely intelligent people instead of one.

I think many would be tired, to say the least, with Sam spending 2 hours basically repeating the same claim with different examples at 4 minute intervals. In fairness I think he was correct to do so. When discussing any topic of debate there must be a level ground of understanding. When I debate the idea of God with Muslims or Christians, it’s best to define what that God is. You can spend 3 hours debating how immoral a being this “man” is, only to be told by your opponent that his version of God is not a being at all – much more a silent mover outside the material & testable realm. In this case a new 2 hour debate can ensue with these new parameters.

Clarity is key.

Sam seems to believe in the simple notion that Truth is a basic premise, what is true is not false. A man wearing glasses is truly wearing glasses. Whereas Jordan seems to propose the man is only wearing glasses on a micro level, but in a deeper field of philosophy, the statement can only be true if certain unknown factors are met. And here lies Jordan’s fault. When pushed on this, he can never clarify what exactly those parameters are. Only that truth must be contingent on the betterment of the human species. His biggest failure here, is that his version of truth only seems to hold water in the case of one species of hominid. What about the rest? What if the truth was in fact great for the survival of humans but terrible for the survival of, let’s say, insects. How can this have any bearing on a statement being true or false? I claim it does not.

There are of course, Newtonian, Darwinian & many more views that propose different causal outlines for scientific truth, but on a base level they cannot subjugate the very nature of the word. If Jordan would like to use a different word (irony intended) to describe his view, that is fine. But claiming, as he has, that a woman having an affair because she is found in bed with a man other than her husband, is not in fact having said affair – due to evidence that shows her husband treated her horribly in previous years – makes absolutely no sense. The affair happened regardless of whether or not she had a right to stray from the marital bed. Truth is truth. Anything other than this is absurdity.

In philosophy classes around the world, there can be no doubt that many professors are working on the old “Is this jar empty?” trick, only to add pebbles & ask again, then to add smaller stones & ask again; then sand. Finally to propose the matter & space inside the jar must be accounted for. Each one of the answers given to this would have in some way be both true & false – but only in a separate context. I believe Mr Peterson calls this “micro”  “macro”, which scarily reminds me of Ray Comfort trying to deny evolution. As clarity is key, I do not mean to compare these men in any intellectual way. Jordan B Peterson is a very intelligent man, with many reasoned arguments – especially when it comes to political & social oversight. Sadly on this topic he is wrong.

In the same way we can say a woman wearing a purple dress, is truly wearing a purple dress. Only to magnify the fibers & find the dress is made of both Magenta & Cyan thread. This is semantics, although it does remind us of the scientific standpoint that nothing is ever truly certain. The point I think Sam should make is the difference between contexts. From normal eye-line, the dress is purple, the threads themselves may not be – but that is a different question altogether – not an alternative truth. Once the basic premise that all further correspondence with Jordan B Peterson can be examined on the micro level, is found. I think this will alleviate any trouble going onto the topics of religion & morality. One hopes.

Either way I will still listen as it’s a fascinating discussion. And one that reminds me that even though everyday I am the smartest I have ever been, I am not the smartest there has ever been – truly.

Please head over to the podcast & give it a listen if you haven’t:

The calm

Today is the calm before the storm. Tonight Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will debate to round 100 million viewers on topics from economics, business to terrorism. With all his racism, bigotry and vile language, Trump only sits 2 points behind Clinton. This should shock us all. To swing 2 points after the first of 3 TV debates is simple. Historically speaking this election is wide open and it strikes fear into my heart. A year ago Sam Harris said

“We won’t be talking about Donald Trump 12 months from now.”

Well, he and I were both wrong. As I stupidly held more faith in the American people. I do find it troubling to conform to this idea though, that somehow idiocy brought this change. In fact I think after deep thought the left has just as much blood on its hands as the right. Sure, the religious right held high places for xtian nut jobs and stood proud against facts and science on TV. But the left played to elitists, ignored any basic questions from their enemies and called anyone who didn’t tow the line a ‘bigot’ or ‘racist’. Reports from many US tv shows, celebrities and more confirm that youngsters have had enough of being refused the right to ask logical questions. If you start the argument by calling anyone who agrees with a strong border control a bigot, most angry youths will rebel against you.

On the one side we have an ego maniac with little to no education, who would in a heartbeat use nuclear weapons without the slightest idea of the repercussions. And another who is completely suited to the job, and has much experience in these matters – but is totally robotic, lacks any charisma or personality and is a proven liar. Nearly everything she says is a lie, the only saving grace is that, even if she lies 65% of the time. Donald beats that before lunch.

Let’s hope Trump is humiliated tonight by a stateswoman who is ready to take office. I worry about a centrist/ conservative with a lowercase C Clinton a lot, especially her comments on the Falklands.( Giving an island owned by the British for centuries back to a country that A) didn’t have a claim to the Island initially and B) Only owned the island for a short period of some years after attacking it) but I worry about a Trump campaign that could destroy the world as we know it much more.

Go get him Hillary.

The art of debate.

Listening to Hannibal Buress trying to drunkenly debate Sam Harris on the ‘We the People’ podcast is a tough exercise. I have fallen into a similar trap many times, and I find it interesting to explore this further – if not for any readers, just for myself. If you spend your time researching intelligent debate on issues such as biology, physics, sociology, religion and more, by such noted and known professors and respectable peers – you walk back through life forgetting that those people are a vast minority of the population.

I can sit and watch Christopher Hitchens sit facing a man he abhors, and instead of raising voices, they verbally attack each other with facts statistics & logical thought. At the end, a hand shake or a nod and life goes on as planned. This cannot be said about the friend you have on facebook or twitter who believes we live in a rape culture or that Tony Blair is a war criminal. The amount of times I engage these debates only to find within one reply that I am not speaking to a respectable or intellectual individual, but  an angry person of the general populous who most likely spend more time in the day watching catch up TV than reading books. The worst part of all is that it is a fault of my own to give such levity, to forget who I am speaking to. I don’t doubt this sounds pretentious, but please for a moment think of one area that you are familiar with – more so than the general public.

Let’s say you have a degree in Geography. You see a status about igneous rocks which is clearly false – but only to a select few – like yourself, with the expertise. If you engage & try to explain, then are called any numbers of angry swear words, or a know-it-all and the like, and in the end you have to say “Look, I have some knowledge on this subject, I have a degree & have written studies on radioactivity within igneous rocks in south america – I know a little about this subject!” At this point, you have surrendered yourself to being pretentious in some form, even though, in reality, you have just used up all basic logical arguments and arrived at the conclusion that this person is not going to listen to facts. So maybe the use of authority might help?

It normally never works.

Sam Harris gives fantastic points like mentioning the % of the US population that is black is only 6%, but the murder rate by black people is 50%. Therefore there is a massive issue with black people committing murders at a much higher rate than white people – so when a police officer is called to an area for a shooting & sees a black male jogging in a hoody. He may be justified to stop this person with force based on statistical facts. Before this sentence Sam agrees the horrid crimes against blacks by odious racist police officers & the racist laws against marijuana which attack blacks directly – in response to this great, thought provoking & logical point in defense of the police, he is met with responses like “fuck this shit, you ain’t no this, you ain’t been no black man in Chicago, yo play your stats game, you think you like intellectual, fuck that shit – you ever been black.”

At this moment, one must notice that you have a heavy weight boxer vs a disabled & malnourished child with a massive ego – sure, the world knows the heavyweight will win 100% but the child’s own mind can’t conceive that he is losing.

I might be making the same mistake again but I’m giving you the reader the generous leeway that I believe you are intelligent enough to understand not one part of that response is intelligent or coherent.

I can’t count how many times I’ve “debated” a “friend” who had a misconception about an issue they were not knowledgeable on but very interested in & ended up being blocked. People will lie, and ignore facts, make up their own ones; frankly do anything to notice their folly. It almost never ends with, “Ah, I didn’t see what you meant, good point, look I’ll think this all over & get back to you, take care.” Most of the time it ends with “fuck you, you bigot, I cant belive you actually think that & you were my friend? [blocked]”

I wonder now, are these debates worth it? If only I am willing to change my mind with evidence, is there any point believing the rest can be convinced also? Why are the general population so unsuited to debate? Yet so suited to mass opinions?

I am going back to the 3 hours podcast to endure the rest. From now on I think I will have to give up hope on humanity & instead of thinking every debating opponent on facebook is interested in intellectually honest debate and respectful discourse – I must come to terms with the fact that they really aren’t intelligent enough to have these types of conversations. However pompous that may sound.

An old friend on facebook replied to a very thought out comment from myself with “Sod off.”

He spent £6000 each year on university fees for that. How depressing.

Musings on the death of Labour & the once great left wing.

The current political discourse, especially on a side I am nearest, the left, has become toxic. Toxic with a sense of gullibility involved. What used to be left wing has shifted so far right – it’s hard to define sides anymore. Most leftists found online believe the death penalty should be returned, anyone arrested for a crime is not only guilty but should be dealt with harshly without due process. I’ve found many twitter accounts that call themselves genuine leftists & feminists – who tweet that women are worth less than men & should wear modest clothing unless they want to be raped. The left have finally become that odious term I’ve heard so much “Libtards” They also think all religions are not only peaceful but they are equally peaceful, and that peace of earth is within our grasp. This is all shockingly mindless. All of these claims can be dismissed within seconds on basic evidence.

The fall of belief in democracy now is putrid. Old people are being told they shouldn’t vote as they are old so will die soon, by self proclaimed “leftists”. Not noticing they are using a right-wing argument straight from a Nazi political mainstay “Eugenics”. The left have now turned to calling Brexiters “racists” & “bigots” & claiming a capitalist system like the EU is paramount to all of our success – and without it we will lose everything. The damn near opposite of socialism & the policies that the left wing was based on. I voted Brexit based on the fact that the EU has had less than 2% growth in over a decade, the fact that they have no military power (see those Russian tanks strolling around Ukraine last year with no resistance) that they admitted Greece – a beautiful country that created democracy – but has also been bankrupt five time in modern history (1826, 1843, 1860, 1894 and 1932). The Greeks falsified their GDP & monetary value to join the EU, bad enough until you find out that the EU knew about it & still let it go ahead. Not only was this secret, but it was illegal & it cost the UK & 26 other nations billions. The EU, Knowing they (Greece) would again default which led to Middle-class greek families eating out of supermarket bins. On top of this: (NOTE: GDP Debt over 40% is suggested as a bench mark that must not be breached for fiscal stability)

Ireland : Bankrupted (123.7% GDP debt) (unemployment 7.8%)

Greece: Bankrupted (175.1% GDP debt) (unemployment 23.3%)

France: Most visited country on earth, yet 0% growth in economy for nearly 7 years (unemployment 10.2%)

Italy: 132.6% GDP debt (unemployment 36.9%)

Spain: 93.9% GDP debt (unemployment 21%)

These are the highest contributors to the EU (minus the UK & Germany) and they are performing like 3rd world countries. The unemployment in the EU is worse than it was before the run up to Adolf Hitlers election bid – that should worry people. The EU, plainly is a terribly run system, it has failed consistently & tried to force austerity on all failing country’s (Greece had something to say about that!)

So those few damning reasons were why I chose to leave – see how I didn’t say anything racist or bigoted?

A man like Jeremy Corbyn, principled & decent. Well, more so than the average Politician – no more than the average human. See his flip flop on the EU? 40 years desperately fighting to leave – then one week before the referendum he says “REMAIN!”. What other issues could he u-turn on if his party push him enough? Apartheid? Black Rights? Socialism?

I understand this is a stretch, but anyone who has followed this man’s career would never have guessed he would have changed his mind on such an important issue – especially when he was meant to be the principled one!

Corbyn should easily win his parties leadership election, but he is being voted for by people who don’t seem to understand how bad of a leader he is. With less than 20 MP’s that are willing to work for him, it means if leader of the country – he could pass exactly zero laws. So all of the great things he stands for count for nothing as there is no way they would be put through to the Lords. Those voting or joining Labour should be asked to explain how a law comes to pass – as they seem to have no idea. The vast majority of his MP’s have now removed themselves to the back-benchers – the exact opposite of the normal political dream.

If Corbyn wins, the country will not give him a majority, nor will his own MP’s – To put this into perspective, Tony Blair won 3 elections with ease – 2 of them after the Iraq War debacle! And Corbyn won’t even manage that.

Far worse is the realisation that the other options for leader are probably just as likely to win an election. No offence to Angela Eagle – but when asked why she resigned from Jeremy Corbyn’s cabinet, she cried on TV and squeaked through the interview. I know women are strong enough to lead this country, but she isn’t one of them. Imagine Putin flying jets over our air space & Angela had to respond? I’d expect a short video clip of her crying in the toilets & then her opening the door and saying “Please, just … stop it Russia, stop!” and then going back inside for a cry. For all the nastiness of Mrs Thatcher, as least she was fierce enough to strike an enemy. And the other guy? let’s not even waste time on his name.

The Labour party which should stand for my area & family is all but dead. I fear the conservatives have just solidified another 20 years in office – whilst labour is set to go the way of the Liberal Democrats after THAT scandal!

Current idiocy on terror.

A man walks in on his wife cheating on him, he kills both his wife and her lover. He has no remorse & claims he was justified due to her actions. In court the notes “you will be sent away for many years, your jealousy made you react in a horrid way. You could have gotten a divorce, but you murdered both of them.”Next, a terrorist walks in to the dock. He has chopped off the head of an innocent British social worker in Syria. He is asked “Why did you do it?”

“Well, he was an infidel, we are at war & it says in the Qur’an, Chapter 47 “So when you meet those who disbelieve, strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them…”

So I did what my god & holy book told me to, I am a Muslim who doesn’t cherry pick the nice bits of the Quran. God wouldn’t want that, he sees the fakes, I do exactly what it tells me to.”

The judge replies “Don’t be so silly, you must be poor? Uneducated? Abused as a child? Politically sidelined?”

“No, rich Saudi family, great education in Europe, no abuse, no political affiliation. I’m doing what it says in chapter 47, here, have a look.”The judge refuses to look inside the Qur’an, if he does & notices he is wrong, then people might think him racist or islamophobic! He says.

“Come on, what was your reason? I’m confused, you never mentioned Tony Blair or George Bush or America”

“Dude, wtf is your problem? A man kills and says it’s because she cheated, you accept it, I hold the page open and read exactly what I did and you are ignoring me?”

Politicians, politicians everywhere.

This will come off as condescending to anyone easily offended, thankfully I left all the care I have for people’s feelings with my ellesse tracksuit & my dreams of marrying a Spice Girl. Normally I blog about religion &  relish the fact I am offending billions of people at once. So it’s a step down just to offend 50% of the youth in the UK, the things I do for you!

I have a small handful of interests, I spend most of my life working, listening to 3-4 podcasts, studying & debating religion, and enjoying politics. I watch films maybe twice a year, TV shows even less. I can watch 20 hours of Breaking Bad or The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones & right before the big reveal I can put it down & genuinely not care for what I’ve missed. In fact, now working from home, I only turn the TV on when my dad pulls up the drive, as he watches the news. I simply don’t have the same interests as the people around me. I love politics, which gets me in front of the TV! Every week without fail (when parliament is in session) I watch Question Time, This Week, Sunday Politics & PMQ’s. I keep up to date with this more than anyone I know, actually the only person I am aware of that has more interest in this subject is a family member who is a politician himself.

With this, I am aghast at the basic, childish & unintelligent babble I’ve seen on facebook due to BREXIT. I am more appalled at the open bigotry from remain voters. Statements like:

“Old people shouldn’t be allowed to sell our future!”

“OAP’s voted out, but the youth voted in, they aren’t even going to be here to experience the outcome!”

“Anyone who voted out is racist scum.”

These people think they are left wing, yet the first statement denies what he call  a “human right” to vote, the second nearly follows the path of Eugenics. If old people shouldn’t have the human right to vote on issues less important to them (in your opinion) why let them vote at all? They’re gonna die soon anyway, why not kill them now & be done with it? Ah branding all leave voters racist, I bet you hate when all Muslims are branded terrorists… You see the brilliance of these statements, is that they come from people who think they are left wing because they voted Labour, or Liberal or Green, which really, doesn’t mean much anymore. Regressive Leftists, they are known as. People who believe in liberal values until it doesn’t suit them. For example:

“Gays should have equal rights! And women should be free to choose their own way of life. If you disagree you are a misogynistic bigot!”

“But I’m a Muslim & it’s in my holy book & culture.”

“Oh! I’m sorry, I hope I didn’t infringe on your rights, don’t call me an Islamophobe.”

“Everyone should have the vote, even prisoners, it is an human right for all equal citizens! It’s fundamental to our democracy! Wait what? Brexit won? Old people swung the vote? Remove old people from the ballot! This referendum isn’t legally binding. Fuck democracy when it doesn’t suit me. Let’s petition for a new referendum!”

You get the point I hope. If you have thought any of these things, you are more right wing than you are left – you just don’t know it because what used to exist as strict political leanings, doesn’t anymore. The Daily Mail used to be ultra right wing, barely ever told the truth. But if a terrorist attack happens in Time Square, by a man with an ISIS Flag, whilst he screams “Praise be to Allah.” The only paper that will hint at his motive, is the Daily Mail. Which is shocking, it makes me sick that we have let reason fall in the hands of unreasonable outlets.

Here are a few lines I read on facebook, from friends of mine, who are, some of them, highly intelligent.

  1. Without the EU CFP, there won’t be any fish!
  2. Clearly our country has taken to hate & racism.
  3. I’m ashamed at the UK, what have we become? Where is the love.
  4. I don’t care what it says, I will always be European!
  5. The UK is now not the 5th largest economy in the world, France has overtaken us! Nice one Brexit.
  6. Only ISIS, Donald Trump & Putin agree with Leave, you wanna be in that group? pfft.
  7. Liverpool wouldn’t exist without the EU!
  8. EU gives us workers rights, 52 weeks maternity pay & equal pay. If we leave this will all go!
  9. I can’t believe this country is 52% racist. Blaming immigrants for your problems, how smart.

And now here is why everyone of them is so, demonstrably idiotic.

  1. There is more than one ocean, even if we over-fish to the point of extinction in EU waters, we would just import from foreign seas. I’m not being over the top, I asked to clarify & this person genuinely told me that fish would cease to exist. Furthermore, the EU sat on its ass whilst they allowed the Mediterranean Sea & others to be fished dry. When 3 top EU nations began to fight over fishing rights due to an impending shortage – the EU stepped in, implementing the CFP (common fishery policy), 40 years too late. They didn’t care before hand.  7.5% of all marine life in EU waters are threatened with extinction. This might sound like a small number to you, but this includes 40% of all Sharks & Reys. The EU didn’t fight for this from day one, it only reformed itself after 40 years of saying “Fuck Off”. It didn’t care for animals or the environment, sound left wing to you? Oh, this is the same way it only reformed itself in favour of the UK when David Cameron told the EU he would hold a referendum if no reform is made – forcing their hand, they took the bait & still gave him 4/5th’s of fuck all. Lastly on this point – the lovely EU also tried to impose austerity on all failing EU states – Just like our Tories – If you forgot about that, ask a Greek.
  2. Our country has not taken to hate and racism. I was a green voting, secular, anti-racist, anti-bigot, liberal & proud grandchild of an immigrant on Thursday before I voted Brexit. On Friday Morning, I was exactly the same.  In the 2015 General Election 44,722,000 were registered to vote. Only 66.1% did so. Which means 29,561,441 people voted. Out of those, only 12.6% voted UKIP (which would be called right-wing, in truth a centre right party, akin to the Tories of the 1960-90’s) The most well known, and truly right-wing, hate mongering party, the British National Party received just 1,667 votes. Yes, we are all racist bastards it seems, even though our only racist party got a measly 0.0037% of the vote. Based on sheer statistics the vast majority of leave voters were Labour & Conservative voters.
  3. Ashamed of the UK? For what you perceive as racism? See point 2. For wanting to have power over our own country, how is that shameful. We have no right to stop convicted rapists,  murderers, thieves or criminals of all stripes walking past our border security providing that they have an EU passport & they are not known to be a risk to the public at this current moment. This is not sound policy. Remember Arnis Zalkalns? The Latvian who served 7 years for murdering his wife? He came to the UK in 2007, he posed no known threat – yano he was only a killer. Well he not only got himself arrested in 2009 on suspicion of indecent assault of a 14 year old, but 5 years later he murdered 14 year old Alice Gross – she lay at the bottom of the River Bent for 5 weeks. Now I don’t believe that foreigners commit more crimes, I understand this is a minority. But this murder & thousands of other sexual assaults & crimes of a lesser nature are utterly preventable, if we have a common sense approach to our safety. You don’t leave your wallet open on the bar & then go for a piss do you? You wouldn’t invite a stranger into your home, but as long as someone has a passport & aren’t screaming “Death to the UK” you find it completely normal for them to enter the country. It is insanity. If all migrants had a 1 week visa application, then we could route out the people we don’t want & welcome with open arms the fine, hard working people who are being tarnished by a minority of criminals. I am not ashamed of the UK, I ashamed of our border security. Where is the love? I don’t see it missing, I still love Europe. I still love Europeans. I just don’t think a failing economic group is any good – furthermore I can’t think of what the fuck it has to do with Love or Europeans.
  4. Yes, shockingly, you are still European, you still get to enter Euro-vision & get to watch the England Football Team fail in the Euros. We didn’t shift on our tectonic plates away to another continent, we literally asked in a referendum to leave a financial trading block, which happens to consist of neighboring countries – that is all. The EU began as an economic trading platform, it then expanded into a bureaucratic entity that diluted democracy from 1 vote in 44 million, to 1 vote in 500 million. I’ve got just as much odds as winning the Euro-millons than having my political grievances heard. 26 other nations with different political views, parties, democratic systems & cultures get to veto on the rest of a continents affairs. In no way does this make any sense. You can’t get your partner to happily agree on a place to eat tonight, but you can get 27 countries to happily agree on foreign policy interests. Good luck. Why should I have a say on Polish policy? Or French policy? How dare I encroach on their sovereignty?
  5. Yes, France overtook the UK as the 5th largest economy in the world… for 15 minutes between 6.20am & 6.35am. By 6.36am Sterling had began to stabalise & we settled back as the 5th largest economy on the planet & the second largest in the EU. Stop pulling your hair out, stop cutting yourself – stop believing whatever bollocks you read on facebook. Yes the £ is still low, but we are now in a better position than before the recession, we actually have 10x our capital just in case & a “save me” fund of £250b. (The fall in sterling has lowered the interest rate on mortgages by 0.5% to 0% & will make exporting cheaper. As long as it doesn’t cause inflation, which we control – we will be laughing.
  6. How you found out ISIS supported Brexit I don’t know. An argument from authority fallacy is saying “I know 2+2=4, but my Math teacher just told me it was 68, so it must be true…” No, although experts have knowledge on a subject, it’s best to use your own reason & check their track record. The majority of the Bankers, financial groups & experts who said Brexit would put the UK into recession were the same ones who drove the globe into a recession that they didn’t see coming. The same experts who thought the Euro would be stable & that when the UK asked not to join the currency warned it would “tank out whole economy”. How did that work out Ireland, Greece, Spain, Italy & France? Two of which went bankrupt, 2 two of which have up to 20% unemployment & over 100% GDP debt. And France, being the most visited nation on earth has had a stagnant economy for several decades. Saying “Donald Trump wants to vote one way, so I must vote the other,” ignores the subject completely. What is the vote on? Hair products & humility? IGNORE HIM. Self love & narcissism – listen up! Just because someone is bad doesn’t mean they are wrong on any or every issue. Hitler may have been a vegetarian, but he was a bad fucking guy. Stalin enjoyed a glass of water – that doesn’t mean you should now refuse water at all costs. Reversing the argument from authority logical fallacy, is a fallacy within itself.
  7. Liverpool wouldn’t exist without the EU? Liverpool was built on the EU? hhmm and there was me thinking it was built on the Atlantic Slave Trade.
  8. The EU gives some workers rights, but equally some of these rights are offered, not guaranteed & can be dismissed by employees if they so choose. The work time directive supposedly stops slave labour by making sure employers INFORM their employees that working over 48 hours a week on average is illegal – that is unless they would like to opt out at any time… I personally worked in a factory near my home, I was one of two English speakers. Hundreds of lovely, hard working polish (& other nationalities) who were in my opinion treated like vermin. I saw a girl around 18 years old with blood dripping from her hands, due to ripping cardboard boxes for 9 hours (with a 15 minute break). She couldn’t speak English, so struggled to ask for gloves, when a colleague helped translate, she was told no. I was also told no. I finished my shift & never went back – sadly those poor immigrants don’t have as many options as I. I sat in my “interview” & watched a superior tick a box opting out of the work time directive for an employee, a Nigerian woman who didn’t speak a word of English & didn’t notice she was just opted into a slave hours contract. She also couldn’t fill her application form, didn’t know how to spell her own name & took 15 minutes to figure out her Date of Birth – I think she lied. This is the great protection that migrants get in EU countries? You hear about it on TV and listen to Labour politicians spout how proud they are about it – but I’ve seen it first hand. And it is disgusting. Oh and maternity rights! they were invented & protected by the EU? WRONG. The EU began in 1958 in an economic sense – Maternity grants were available to British women in 1919. EU law gives women at least 14 weeks maternity leave. The British government gives 52 weeks. This lie was spread on a labour poster by the remain campaign by the way – Why do you think Boris Johnson thought he could lie? Because if it’s good for the goose… If some women voted remain because they actually thought they would lose maternity leave under the Tories – now that is true project fear.
  9. If you think that a majority of your own country are racist, nasty, anti-immigrant, anti-inclusion, small/narrow minded, unintelligent, easily led by lies of the Leave campaign – just because they voted differently to you. Then you need to take a good hard look at yourself.

noun: a person who is intolerant towards those holding different opinions or beliefs.

You are bigots. I personally believe everyone voted in their own interest & I hoped they were educated enough to do so. Facebook regressive leftists have proven me wrong. I don’t think they all fell victim of project fear, I don’t think they are all unpatriotic or unloving of their country & history. They all, I am sure, had many different reasons why they wanted to remain in the EU – and I bloody well respect them for doing so. I just disagree. But based on the anecdotal evidence of seeing every single post on facebook by remainers – and not seeing one intelligent point for staying other than “They don’t have a plan”. I have to say, I can’t wait until this is over & they can go back to posting statuses about their partners, pictures from holidays, youtube clips & rants like:
“Urgh can’t believe that bitch”
“What happened hun?”
“It’s personal, I’ll inbox you.”

I have visited the top facebook Brexit moaners – I only have to go one week back & they suddenly lose their political fury. In fact 100% (in my investigation) only chat bollocks about politics when  a politician fucks a pig (allegedly) or an election is imminent. Bandwagon wankers.

I dislike UKIP, I hate Nigel Farage & Boris Johnson & Michael Gove. They don’t represent me – anymore than David Cameron, Tony Blair & Anjem Choudary represents you (They all voted remain.

Don’t even get me started on giving 16 year old’s the vote. You must be fucking mad.

The Long Night

It must have been many months since my last blog post. I normally update each week but earlier in the year I found myself  bored with hashing out the same old pieces. I began to notice that every week when I sat down to write a piece, I would have 2 or 3 very small religious articles from the news – and one massive Islamic attack. Naturally, I chose to speak on the most important event. This, sadly, ended with a barrage of blogs that all seem to be plagued with the one religion. Which was not my intention when starting the blog. Writing about Islam is like dragging a piano upstairs, whilst 1000 men pull the piano backwards at the same time.

Last night I debated a Palestinian woman* on twitter (* The account had a fake image, which I found by reverse searching the image – so based on the misogynistic views of said account holder, I have to believe it was in fact a man.

This person not only lied about their beliefs, but unashamedly explained how having sex slaves is OK, how rape victims aren’t actually raped if they’re married to their attacker; how women and men are not equal (even though her bio claims she is a freedom fighter for equality- seriously)

Most importantly in my opinion, and something I find all too familiar, is that she claimed many things did not exist in the Quran, only to be corrected by myself. To her credit, she kind of acknowledged I was right. Crucifixion, sex slaves & decapitation are 3 things she denied were inside her holy book. All 3 of course are – and I supplied evidence of this. She accepted this, although most theists seem to have a reset button whereas tomorrow when she debates someone else – she will have consciously ignored all that she learned the night before. This is most notable in twats like Ray Comfort or Banana man as he is known. On Monday he is told how evolution works, and on Tuesday morning he is back on a radio station using the same old lines that were defeated & explained mere hours before.

The inverse of current views on Islam is actually the truth. The idea that only a minority are “extremists” is nonsense. If we define “extreme” as those who blow themselves up, sure – if we define it as those who think being gay should be punishable by law, or those who will become apologists for chopping off hands, heads & feet or child marriage – which I do – then it is actually a majority. In 2009 for example 0% of British Muslims polled agreed that being gay was “morally acceptable”. For those confused by this, it means 100%, the highest majority polled believed being gay was “morally unacceptable”.

Muslim conservatism, anti-gay hatred, anti-Jew hatred & even anti-women hatred (much more veiled) pardon the pun, is rife in the majority of Muslim communities. Sure, they won’t chop off a child’s head, but they will genuinely sit down & discuss why the Quran says they can in certain situations…

Them – “You see, in times of war, the prophet permitted crucifixion & decapitation.”

ME – “So Alan Henning, the aid worker who had his head chopped off by ISIS for being an infidel, that was okay?”

Them – “No”

Me – “But are ISIS, in their opinion at war with the West?

Them – “Well, yes.”
Me – “And Alan Henning was not a Muslim, so he was what is known as an infidel, correct?”

Them – “Well, yes.”

Me – “So you agree Muslims can decapitate and crucify humans they’re at war with, which they did to Alan Henning. You believe this is okay.”

These folks on twitter and the like are not extremists, most of these accounts have bios that claim to be “feminists” like the one last night who argued men are worth more than women & that she is okay getting 50% inheritance – or that it’s okay that she needs 4 witnesses for each man if she is raped because as she explained – How are you even going to have 4 witnesses. Whatever that means.

This tiresome effort of showcasing the real fundamentals of Islam & how those who believe it will act accordingly – is clearly getting me down. It looks to be going nowhere. And the more Muslims rape and murder at a rate scientifically proven as higher than any other religious group – the more western liberals, like myself, cower into submission & claim that even though we only ever hear of Muslim atrocities, that it must be a fault of the media, it must be a trick somehow. The plain evidence in front of us cannot be the simple explanation. I urge us all to think of Occam and his trusty razor.

I said to myself “I’m taking a night off.” at the start of this year, as I thought what is the point in explaining the link between Jihad & the Quran again and again after each week’s terror attack.

That night off spanned months, it was a long night. It is over.
